need help- other forum didnt reply.


so my buddy has a 1990 ediie bauer edition bronco with a 302 in it. he changed the oil pump and now it will turn over but wont start. the fuel pump is getting power to it but i dont here it prime when he turns the key on. weird part is the truck ran fine 2 weeks ago before the pump went. any help?

88 5.0 with bbk shorties, bassani x-pipe w/o cats, custom 2.5in w/flowmasters. t-5 conversion, gt40p heads cobra upper and lower. stock SD.

Plans: full black interior, black paint and supercharger???

So he changed the oil pump and now the fuel pump doesn't work???

a shop said the pump was going bad so it was replaced. the guys at the shop were trying to dick him around and tell him he needed parts that he actually didnt. so he towed it home and tried to start it and it turns over but no start. btw, power is getting to the pump. should i spray starting fluid in the throttlebody to see if it starts?

You need fuel, spark and compression to run....One is missing. How did he replaced the oil pump, was it in chassis?

Does the vehicle have fuel pressure? If so, how much? Does the vehicle have spark? I wouldn't worry about compression because nothing was messed with that would affect compression. Was the distributor removed when changing the oil pump?

Are you sure they were dicking him around? I bet the truck would be running right now if the shop fixed it. How do you know he didn't need the parts they claimed he needed? Apparently your buddy isn't a professional in the field so I don't know how him or you are qualified to make that accusation.

well if you call leaving the old oil pump in the oil pan and re-attaching it and never telling him, i would say thats dicking him around. the truck has spark, and the distributor was never touched. and no he is not a pro at it hence why im working on it. just figured i would get a little input....

i would say give it a very slight shot of starter fluid/spray, the more you use the more the damn thing wants it, if it fires up pump the gas to it and it should stay running, sometimes you gotta give it alittle jump and then things start running like they should

hit the tank near the fuel pump a couple times while u have sumone cranking it. it may start but that means the pumps on its way out. hit it with sum carb cleaner, if it starts, its ur pump.

If that's what they did then why didn't you say that in the first place? Leaving everything apart is totally different from what you originally said "trying to dick him around and tell him he needed parts that he actually didnt".
