I skimmed through the thread and saw a lot of crap, but it won't cost you nearly 10k to do the swap. I've done LS1 swaps in cars where they don't make a kit and we made everything from scratch. It takes longer, but in the end, you can save a lot of money that way. If you can fabricate and know how to wire, it's not going to cost you a ton. If you don't care about money, you can buy a k member with ls1 mounts and pre-made headers and the correct driveshaft. I'm sure there's places where you can buy a swap harness too. Not sure on if someone makes a hydraulic clutch set-up that will bolt on the a SN-firewall tho. Just make sure to get a plan of a budget for parts and then pretty much double it. there's always shit you forget about that will nickle and dime you to death if you don't add extra money in for it.

I have been contemplating going with a 1st gen sbc for now, but can't find any info on the tranmission stuff. I already have a t5-sbc bell housing but I'm assuming either the engine would have to go back or the transmission forward, correct?
