i dont see how it could cost that much.....im seeing used engines and tranny combos going for aroudn 2k....give or take...and thats with the wiring harness and computer....then you would need a custom driveshaft and probly a cross member and kmember...i may be wrong but it seems like it could be done cheaper than 10k

the reason i was thinkin about this is because the ls1 really is a kick ass motor whether some of you want to admit it or not.....i figure i cud spend 2500 on a top end kit and another 1200 or so on a stroker kit and machine work for the block plus all the money for the supporting modds and maybe make 400 hp at the flywheel and not have much room to expand.....or could go with the ls1 and already have the 346 cubic inches and 350 hp bone stock.....down the road throw on a top end kit and make possibly 450 rwhp....and the stock bottom end and block can handle pretty decent power....i have heard at least 600 and most likely more.....and i will have an all aluminum setup....it just seems like it would be a good idea if i could pull it off

Says who? I can't see how this swap would add up to anywhere near $10,000.

well rather than invest all that on a 302, how bout u invest it in a 351 poked out to 408? then uve got even more power than either 302 or ls1 and its a direct bolt in

what's up with the lsx's and piston slap? My brother and law has an ls1 gto well maintained and it has wicked piston slap at startup. Is this common?

Common. The trucks and SUVs did it too. I don't think it is such a problem anymore. There is a TSB on it. Excessive piston to wall clearance. It doesn't cause any harm.
