Nitrous nozzle throttle body screwed

I have a dry nitrous set up and the nozzle

..goes into the throttle body via a drilled hole. Its been kind of striped out a bit, both in the nozzle and the throttle body hole.

Does anyone know how to "tap" a new thread in something like this? I dont know anything about fixing this type of thing.

I was thinking maybe get a new nozzle and tap it somehow...?

thnx guys.

There's a tap and die kit you can buy, you size the tap for what you need, screw it in and it makes fresh theads, given there's enough metal there to do it. You unscrew it and you're done. Also they have all sorts of thread repair kits out there as well.

Chances are there will not be enough metal to clean up the thread with a tap. you might have to go with the helicoil route but i dont know if they make them in npt thread type....

You have to be a really good welder to fill a hole in that thin aluminum without melting it. Remember its cast and very thin I dont think it will hold up to the heat... U have a better chance of filling it with JB weld or somthing similar then drilling and retapping it...

Helicoil is a thread insert that looks like a spring, and npt is a thread type. It stands for 'National Pipe Thread' size. Is a standard size, like coarse thread, fine thread, machine thread, etc...

is this a stock throttle body. you should be able to find another one cheap. but if you are gonna go the jb weld route then you could drill and tap another hole in a different place, but smaller. that way you can put new threads on the nozzle and in a new hole

What about that "as seen on TV" Alumaloy stuff, it might actually work for this. I think I saw a cheaper knockoff brand at a Harbor Freight tool store in the past. I've never used it for anything myself.

In any case, if you are drilling and taping new holes, make sure you clean out the shavings.

thnx, not sure what ill do yet. its a stock throttle body. Ill probly jbweld it. I saw a ebay auction and a throtle body went for 30 shipeed. but I can save money and just use a bit of jb weld in there and u will never even see it I think.

as a matter of fact, i wonder if i can use jb weld on the throttle body, tap new threads on the nozzle and thread the jb weld ? Its pretty tough stuff when its dry and solid. hmm. This way it can be unscrewed easy later if needed.. ...

Used stock throttle bodies are a dime a dozen. Just replace it instead of jerry rigging it.

i thought you said you were sellingthe car. it seems you are trying to rig up the whole car so you can offload it. you should remember that the people you are asking for advice are the people on the classifieds looking for good deals. you don't want to get flaged as the guy ripping people off. spend the money and fix it right
