GT calipers on Cobra rotors

hey converting my friends 5.0 over to 5lug..and he isnt too happy about how much everyone wants for used cobra calipers...i have a set of GT (PBR) calipers front and rear...would those work with the cobra 13/11.65 rotors? i heard something about how the rotors are wider on the cobra, or some other reason..cuz the cobra brake pads are thinner than GT's...any help? can i use the GT calipers with cobra pads? i hate brakes..haha

the front calipers from the gt will not work on cobra rotors. but the rear calipers will. you will need different pads to use cobra rotors in the rear though.

the pads in the rear are thinner on the cobra's because the rotor is thicker. and the rear uses a different caliper mounting bracket to run the 11.65 rotor. the caliper are identical to the cobra's and gt's in the rear. its the mounting bracket that bolts to the diff housing that is different.

Jesus...

SOrry...but you are being confusing as hell.

Say calipers or rotors...not just 'brakes'

They have been trying to tell you...Cobras or GTs...the CALIPER is the same for the rear...just that the cobra ROTOR is thicker than the GT...hence, if you use the same CALIPER like they do...you would need 'wore' down pads or better yet...Cobra pads for the rear. Also, being the cobra rotors are bigger than the GT rotors, you would have to space out the caliper to accommodate the bigger rotors....that better?

In the front. No one makes a bracket to make GT calipers work on a 13" Cobra rotor. Just get Cobra calipers and brackets and use 13" rotors. No way to get around that.

Good luck.

All the above is 100% correct.

just to repeat as easy as possible.

Front:
You need Cobra (PBR) Calipers, Rotors, Pads ( and possibly brake lines)

Rears;
You need Cobra Rotors and pads and extension brackets. Calipers are identical.

thats it in a nutshell. Nothing else will work.

American Muscle, and other companies sell the rear kit for about $185 bucks.
Remember, you MUST pull the axles out to put the new brackets on. No way around that.

They also sell the front kit with rotors and calipers. Front is a simple 20 min. swap.
