If you are trying to get the most out of the car then yes. A light weight, low friction rear axle will take less horsepower to operate. Will there be a night and day difference, no. Will it be faster, yes. I had Mark Williams gun drilled 35 spline axles and a chromoly gun drilled spool in my black notchback. That car performed.

If it was my car and I had the extra cash to do it, then I would do it.

so i was just sitting here thinking ive still got a lot to do before i can even get this car going.

i need:
rear brakes
gears
axles
9in ends
a motor (big duh)
trans
rear shocks
driveshaft
trans mount
and wheels and tires

also since the car was a 4cylinder car dont have to run brake lines to make it disc brakes in the back?

thats what i been thinking about. i think i am going to go 9in also. so i think my strange spool may be for sale. i dont think a 8.8 spool will work in a 9in rear unless someone can clarify for me

there really isn't a reason to go with a 9 in if you already have the 8.8 stuff....they can be basically indestructable
