well first off you can do it for probly 11 or 12 hundred as far as the kit.....second it wont be so much hp gain as torque

That seems high to me. You're saying that taking a stock motor and punching it out to a 347, with no other mods, will put out 287hp at the crank?

A 347 stroker is an addition of cu inches but also more leverage or torque because the distance from the centerline of the crank to the rod journals is longer so in theory, it would produce more power than a 347 that was made out of a 302 with just a larger bore. So... I guess a stroker 347 would make more power per liter than a 302. Is my thinking wrong?

no because then your starving the engine....if you up grade to make it breath equal to the stock....well im not sure how to put it....a fully built 302 with 302 parts vs a fully buily 347 with 347 parts.....

I agree that a long stroke produces a torqueyer motor, but that doesn't mean that it will produce power more efficiently. For what you gain in torque, you're also adding in reciprocating mass, and you're causing the crank to have a larger polar inertia, both of which are going to hurt rpm.

THis is getting right to the edge of my engine knowledge though, so I should probably shut up before I put my foot in my mouth, hahaha.
