I don't know. I guess it depends on what kind of kit it is (actual Saleen or aftermarket copy) and how it was installed.

found another car... e-mailed and already got reply.

93 Mustang LX Convertible

This is what he said in his reply:

Hello. Two years ago the 4 cylinder blew up. At that time the car had 87,000 miles. Very minimal road time since I have been building it (less than 100) Since then I have been building it as a 5.0. It has a brand new 5.0 with 78 351 heads, Pete Jackson timing gears, b303 cam, high volume oil pump, new oil pan, new timing cover, new water pump, new power steering pump, funnel web intake, new race demon carbeurator, new 8.8 rear end with 4.30 gears, granatelli motor sport tubular rear suspension, 5 lug axles, t-5 transmission, holley blue point fuel pump, too many other parts. I have thousands of dollars worth of receipts that I can provide. Where are you so I can tell you if you are within an hour and a half. The car does need a new top - it is $179 from Mustangs Unlimited. This is not a car I would drive on the highway because of the 4.30 gears.
Call me if you have any other questions.

The engine has a phuck load of junk but the car is probably worth what he is asking. Keep in mind that the 4 cylinder suspension is light duty. The front rotors are small.

Lucky I seen this. My account expires today.

Be very suspicious of this car. Note the odometer branding and the failed safety inspections. Also note that the car was just titled in May 2009 and the owner wants to sell it already. That tells me this car has big time issues. I would pass on it unless you are getting it for scrap price.

The last title says 138K so how in the phuck could it only have 87K now? You should print that carfax out and show him how stupid he is.

Its a $500 car if the body is in good shape.

That car looks like ass.. anybody that puts those pepboy rims on a car belongs in tijuana mexico... in my opinion that right there and the mess of a motor speaks for how well that car is put together/maintained. I wouldn't look at that twice honestly, it's a total cream puff im sure... four banger conversions are virtually worthless when reselling fyi so you would stuck with a heavy, slow half assed mexi wagon that's worth just about as much as recycled toilet paper.

hell I think i'd rather spend 2k on a roller and feel less ripped off then buying that shitbox. Please do yourself a favor and don't settle for the first car that lands in your lap. DOn't just search craigslist either, get outside get some sun talk to some of the opposite sex and hit up a track or two and maybe find one sitting somewhere or someone knows of one that you can check out in person because i could make a steaming pile of shit look like it's worth 2k over the internet with my cheesy sony easy cam lol

this is what he sent to me via e-mail.

it has about 160k for miles, because I put the motor that just went at about 100k and i got about 65k before it died on me last month. As far as matinence the only stuff that really matters is repairs to the car, I just did the complete bushing kit last summer, ball joints, new steering rack, sway bar end links, and brakes, I also have brand new drilled and slotted rotors in the box I never put on. Call me if you want more details! 401-206-9935.

the car is located in my town so im gonna try and check it out this week. we'll see.

What about the trans? did it grind at all and has it ever been rebuilt?

body wise you have to look it over good. Check under the hatch, doors and fenderwells for rust. check the both upper/lower torque boxes and floor pans. The torque boxes are where the control arms in the back connect to the body from the rear end. These normally get damaged with tons of abuse and are costly to repair if repairable at all.. The floor pans are located under both front seats and tend to rust which will cause you to have to have them cut out and new ones or a patch welded back in. If you don't weld it could cost you a few bucks.
