I cannot for the life of me find a suitable source to hook the choke heater too. I know its supposed to be hooked up where it only gets power when iginion is ON, but i dont want to run a full 12v to it, as I hear it can prematurely wear out the choke. (last tiem i did it, after half an hour, i touched it and scalded my fingers on the plates)...and i found two random wires that have 5v going though them, but thats not enough. And no wires off my alt are arround 7-9v which is what im looking for?

If you want to lower the voltage you will need to get a ballast resistor like the old Chryslers used (and some Accel/Mallory ignitions) Put it in series with your 12 Volt source, the radio power line would work, but under the hood wiring should have a switched 12 v to the EEC module. You just may not get your carb choke to fully open if it's not enough voltage.

What year of Mustang, might be able to get a wiring diagram to help you out.
