this sucks, leaking tranny fluid

Started out with a little trip up the interstate, now the car is modified with full bolt ons, but it handled the trip just fine. It was about an hour drive each way. Well, while in the town I visited, I let someone try the car out. He could not drive a stick to save his life, and he was revving the hell out of it and riding it second gear way up in the rpm band. He stalled on take off, said the clutch was too stiff(centerforce,LOL). Well, after getting home, I decide I am going to fix my air conditioning. I get it done and and noticed there was liquid under the car leaking. I put it on ramps and see its tranny fluid from the front of the tranny all the way to the back of the car, I'm quessing it was leaking on the trip and blowing back and possibly from this idiot who couldnt drive. Its a 5 speed car, I am going to have to clean it to see where its coming from. Any trouble spots on these trannies I should look for, I am hoping it was just a line that came loose.

Yeah, I dont think I will.LOL. He was saying how badass his truck was, when he tries to drive the car he says" damn, this thing has some balls". Then when getting on the highway he says" we're at 75 mph already". His truck was pretty slow compared to the car. My truck does the quarter in low 14s, and my mustang seems to be a bit faster than my truck.

I am hoping it was just a line that came loose.
There are no external connections other than the speedo unless the 95 is something different than earlier years.

Same here. The way my cable was running, it would run down the cable and blow off near the front of the trans. That happened for a while and made it hard to find the source because the shit was everywhere. Clean the whole trans off and then look for the source.

I'm assuming you know the difference between ATF and motor oil but sometimes the PCV, lower manifold, valve covers can leak and it run down the bell housing to the transmission as well.

I cleaned it today, I will get under there tommorow and see if I see anything. It appears to be on the right side of the trans (as if your sitting in the car). All of the fluid was concentrated on the right side, it was all over the exhaust, good thing it didnt light up.LOL. What years trannies fit this car(95), if the case is cracked or something I will have to get another one.

This sucks...my brother did the same thing. He let one of his friends drive his car (his friend said he could drive stick) and the guy tried to start a burnout from a dead stop in 2nd gear and burned the clutch up.
It's a lesson learned for everyone...don't let ANYONE else drive your car unless it is family and you are 100% they can drive stick

Well, crawled under there and didnt see where it was coming from. There was a little residue here and there, I noticed one of the lower mounting bolts had a crack around it, but it didnt appear to be leaking from there. I am just going to have to drive it and see if I get anymore leaks.

Yeah, no doubt. These 5 speeds take the auto tranny fluid like the ford ranger 5 speeds dont they.

well, it appears to be a front seal. After letting it sit a couple days, I see the fluid is draining between the tranny and the bell housing.

bummer, while you are in there, install a steel bearing retainer if it hasn't been done already.

Looks like this: Ford Racing M-7050-A - Ford Racing T-5 Bearing Retainers – SummitRacing.com

I cant get to it for a few weeks. I am thinking of just pulling the engine and tranny and redoing some stuff, and while it is out paint the car black.

How much does the 5 speed weigh without the bellhousing?
