F or E

i'm doing some research i've searched a few threads trying to get the right information i need, i can get either cam dirt cheap, its going in a DD car so i was gonna do the alphabet cam for now, from what i was reading and i guess correct me if any part of this is wrong. But the F cam makes more top end power so i'm assuming that since i have the 4.30's that the F Cam would help me in the upper rpms to keep the motor pulling longer to make the rpm range more efficient. I don't plan on putting the cam in without the a set of heads and intake. So i was curious what would be the best combo as far as setting that up i'm not looking to spend a ton on the heads and intake. Reason i'm not waiting and spending more on the H/C/I set up is because i'm wanting to get a block and kinda put things together piece by piece over the next year or so. oh and i will also be spraying a 150 shot but the car will be tuned for it. also could i get alway with using 1.7's with this cam or should i stick with 1.6's. Thanks for any advice you guys can give in advance.

If it's going in a DD, wouldn't it be better to chase midrange power instead of top end? My OHC DDs spend >90% of their life under 2300 rpm, the pushrod cars usually under 1800.

well no not really because i'm already in high rpms when i'm just crusing...at like 35-40 mph in 5th gear i'm already at 2200-2300 rpms anyway.

the main problem with the car now is the 4.30's run thru the rpm's so fast i have to short shift the car most of the time just to get it in the power range in the next gear.

Ah, reading comprehension fail - I didn't realize that the 4.30s were already installed.

lol yea i've thought about swapping but it seems to pull good i don't mind the bad mpg, its not horrible, i'll give up a lil bit of mpg to make up for performance...plus i got the gears used for $50 and they only had about 1500 miles on them...when the car was wrecked.

my friend swapped 3.73's to 4.10's and it felt a lot better...but then again he has a 97 Cobra so he's got more rpms to go through.

The fcam to me never felt to strong in its advertised rpm range. But then again I was on stock springs, so it never prob worked to it's full potential. I'm just here to remind you to get new springs lol.

I'm about to do a spring swap with the heads on the car this sat.
