problems after 4:10 swap?

well i finished up my 4:10 swap. when we were done i measured 8 thousandths of an inch of back lash. and when we painted em and rolled em they looked great. not to shallow not to deep, not to high not to low.

when i am accelerating from about 35, there is a slight hum, and after about 65 there is a slight vibration threw out the whole vehicle, checked drive shaft its tight, checked bolts there tight, i did the u joint a month ago.

what do you think?.....probably going to pull the diff cover and take another look inside.

Gears aren't installed correctly. Pull it apart ASAP before you do permanant damge to the gear set.

Wrong shims. Its most likely too lose. If it howls on decceleration, it confirms that the clearance is too lose.

would that have shown up in the back lash measurement?

mine is howling during acceleration, and makes zero noise during decceleration.

they were bran new and set up by a reputable shop in my car and they still had a very low hum to them under acceleration. i herd the richmonds are very touchy when it comes to that but i never had any vibration.. and there was no visable wear at all when i pulled them out. i didnt even have but a few hundo miles on them.

there is not doubt in my mind that they were used or abused or not installed correctly, they looks great and the teeth looked great!.......i think this small vibration might be something im feeling in my drive line that i never felt before because of my old gearing. im considering buying an aluminum drive shaft.
