second gear help?

Stupid question, I have a freshly rebuilt T-5 w/ all new sinkrows and a new clutch. Well every time I try to go into second hard and quick, it zips, and usually doesn't get into gear, yet if I go into second a little slower it goes in fine. Any help is appreciated. thanks

first of all there is a break in period before you start beatin on it. next go ahead and drain your trans and fill it with b&m trick shift atf. this is great lube for your t-5. take it easy on it for awhile

lol, never seen anyone spell it like "sinkrows". Not making fun of you, it just looked funny. Anyways, don't run a synthetic fluid. It will end up breaking down the friction material on the stop rings of the synchronizers.

Sounds like the sunk row is on its way out. Some rebuild kits are cheap and come with the brass sincros, there ment for gear lube. The ones with the paper friction material linings are ment for ATF. It could be bent shift forks, or clutch linkage too. On another note synthetic fluid is fine it lasts alot longer too. The shitty thing about the t-5 is that ATF breaks down under relativly low temps, Any time you are hard on the trans, or any time that it gets the fluid over 300 deg., swap out the old fluid. I change it every time I go to the track.

You can disagree with me but synthetic fluid will break down the lining on the stop rings over time. I'm not talking out of my ass. I wouldn't be saying it if I didn't know it was true.

I'm not being a smart ass, but how ya figure that? ur freaking me out man... I just got the t-5 service manual from tremec and it says any dIII approved fluid is ok, then I checked and, synthetic fluid meets all dIII standads.

I know you are not being a smartass, I didn't mean to come off strong like that. Synthetic fluid does meet the standards completely. But do you always want the standard or do you want something better? I work at a transmission shop and they are pretty much the only thing I like doing on cars because everyone is so afraid of it and I understand them. The chemical compounds in synthetic blend oils just end up over time breaking down the fibers of the lining. You don't need to worry aboyt it but if it was my car, sometime in the future I would change to a regular blend oil. But it won't happen immediately and you are absolutely right. The synthetic blend oil meets the standards.

Thanks , I'll prolly change it out when it gets warmer, plus it all happened when I decided to take it out in single digit weather, so that wasn't the smartest thing I coulda done, and I'm debating a shift linkage quadrant cause i have to push my clutch into the floor, probably past it if I could, in order for the clutch to fully engage, so it prolly needs adjustmant

that happened to me once. First thing pull thee pedal twards you, just in case it's the adjuster. Or, FOR NOW you could just put about 1/8" worth of washers between your firewall and the rubber bushing on the cable. Then go get an adj. cable
