That Saleen/Vortech intake is being a restriction on those high ports. Get a spider. Koni yellow i think is not a good shock for drag racing, it's stiffer for road racing. Maybe get some Lakewood 50/50's. And make sure there's enough oil in the Canton so that the high volume oil pump wont drain it.

Post some pics of the car. Congrats on the purchase!

I'm curious as to what this car should run in the qtr mile and any ideas on what I should do when taking it to the track for its maiden voyage. Just to tip the iceburg, the car has a 347 dss stroker with A-4 block, rotating assembly, forged crankshaft, TFS heads, lunati cam, vortech R-1 charger at about 8lbs of boost. tko 600 trans, 3.73 re, lots of tuning and last dyno in March of this year before I bought it was 602 rwhp w/ 593 ftlbs of torque.
Car has nitto extreme drags on the back but still won't hook. It has a 10pt cage, complete suspension upgrades all that you can imagine including subframes, upper/lowers, panhard bar, blah blah.
I wanted to pick up a car that someone sunk all the money into and all I got to do is just drive it. But I was really wondering what this baby should run theoretically?? Thanks for the help guys.

With that much horsepower you should have no problem running 9.50s. Faster once you get yourself and the car sorted out. Throw those junk Nitto tires in the garbage and put a real tire on it. You will be chasing your tail until you do.

Oh and slicks for sure, get rid of those no traction Nittos.
You can fit a 15x3.5 in the front with a spacer. Done it numerous times on SN95 Cobras.

The last thing needed is more horsepower at this point.

I'd like to see that high volume oil pump replaced with standard or hi pressure pump.

1slo: Man I appreciate the tips and the info. Looks like you've already been in the 10's and down to the 9'ers now so you would know what this baby should potentially run. I noticed your thanks list at the bottom....those sponsors of yours? Any tips on getting some sponsor help to maybe take this car further in the low ET's? Without going broke? lol

I also appreciate the heads up from everyone as far as mods and different outlets to explore. Extra HP is always a plus! The car is currently setup to go one way or the other. Konis are adjustable and they ride good so I'm not sure I want to go with Lakewoods. I prefer drag racing over road racing so I guess theres some things that I need to do to change it over. HOWEVER I don't want to convert it to a trailer queen drag car and make it difficult to just take out to a local cruise-in either. I'm definitely gonna invest in some slicks and skinnies to take to the track and leave the current setup for around town cruisin.

adjustible konis will be fine. removing the front sway bar will not affect the way it drives around town it just wont take sharp corners at 90mph

Hard work and dedication is the only way to get a sponsor. You have to prove to them and show them how YOU WILL BENEFIT THEM, not how they can be a benefit for you. You need to class race, preferably national events. Getting anybody to sponsor you is hard.

What you need is a set of 28x10.5-15 slicks or a 275/60-15 M/T drag radial. That will make a huge difference.

I would also suggest a different rear suspension like a Team Z Motorsports "Complete Rear Package - Strip Series #1". Not absolutely necessary, but it will make a big difference.

Then you need to get the chassis dialed in and get the driving dialed in. Going fast is 75% car and 25% horsepower.

I am definitely taking the advice on slicks and plan on purchasing some in the next week or so. I am also gonna go ahead and get some skinnies for the fronts. As soon as I take it down the track the first time, I'll be posting some ET's and timeslips to work from. Out of curiousity, you mentioned that You can fit a 15x3.5 in the front with a spacer. The recommended 28x10.5-15 slicks shouldn't have any problems with the Cobra rear brakes should they?? Will I need a spacer for those as well?

Anybody you would recommend to pick those up from? Obviously something local would be preferred b/c of shipping costs, but like Summit or Jegs?? I really don't know where to begin looking for these, as well any recommendations on wheels for the slicks? Weld draglites obviously a popular choice but any alternatives that are good and reasonably priced?

Yellow Koni's mean that they are Koni sports. Even on loosest setting they are stiffer than stock. I'm no expert in setting up a suspension on a drag car, but don't you want a little softer rear shocks for better traction?

A 28x10.5-15 will require a 15x10 wheel with a 6.5" backspace. You will have to roll the fender lips and do some "massaging" to the inner wheel well. No spacer needed.

No, not always. Normally the front is set up loose and the back is set up a bit stiffer. Squatting is bad.

it wont hurt him i have eibach sport springs with lakewood 50/50 shocks and my car launches great! if you have seen rear coilover kits they are always a little stiffer then a normal spring/shock. its all the car some cars respond different then others to differnt things you could build 2 cars with 100% same parts and same driver and he will say they feel like 2 differnt cars.. i dont know why but that is just how it is.
