weird idle


ok im back again with my neighbors 1991 foxbody 5.0 now the problem we are having is that he cut off some of his exhaust pipes after the muffler and now the car idles funny like it will stay near 1K rpm but will drop to about 850 rpm and comeback up again and its a bit rough could the pipes that he cut off have made that big of a difference when i say it was not much pipe he didnt like how it looked it bent over the axle and dumped on tghe other side of the axle what do yall think it could be from

do the idle reset found at the top of forum page. that should work.

thanks man we will give that a try tonite its just weird i mean today it wasnt as bad as it was lastnite and it ran smoother today its weird how this car is

Cutting the pipe off after the muffler should not affect anything to do with driveability..

These cars will make you pull your hair out when they have intermittent idle issues...

Like others said, it has nothing to do with the idle. As a side note, I'd put some turn downs on. The exhaust will heat up the gas tank, mine did it enough to cause a plume of hot fumes to come out of the filler when I opened it to put gas in. You can make some decent turndowns with a small curved piece of tail pipe you cut off.

i have 3 grey ones dont know what "year" but one is in my 89
