Is this ok?

Ok I have to replace my piston rings in my 94 gt I have a set of pistons I belive that are out of an 87 and they r stock forged now would it be ok to put the forged pistons out of the 87 in my 94 block? I don't think there is any difference? Since I have to replce rings anyways. Thanx

No it is not ok. Forged pistons require more clearance than hypereutectic pistons. You would have to at least measure clearance and increase the clearance accordingly. It would all be a waste of time because you would see no benefit to swapping to a set of forged pistons. If anything it will hurt because the factory forged pistons are so heavy.

Why do you have to replace the rings?

i have an extreme case of blowby i am doing a compression check after work today to verify but thats just my thoughts that i either cracked a piston or fried the rings not a hundred percent sure but somehow i am getting alot of pressure built up in the oil pan causing oil to come out of the dipstick tube
