gas smell comingfrom the trunk

yesterday when i was driving my car i noticed a gas smell in the interier of my car. after parking my car in the garage over night, i noticed that the gas smell went away. except for there is still a very strong smell coming from the trunk. but there are no leaks. anyone know what this could be?

I remember that in my 96 the shutoff thingy was in the trunk. did you check it? and wtf is a mustang gts?

check the fill tube gasket on the lower part of the fill tube where it goes into your tank. Mine leaks there wjhen it is full. I got a new gasket from 5.0 resto for it and I'm planning on changing it this week. For now, I only fill it up to 10 gallons tro prevent the leaking and smell. You might be able to get that part from ford still.

gts = 5.0 mustang but not the gt sorta like a fox body lx 5.0

Mustang GTS is basically a factory 5.0-swapped V6 car. They were made so Ford could get rid of all the extra 5.0 motors before they swapped over to the 4.6L in '96, and to try and recreate the feeling of the 5.0 LX.

I wouldn't say they're rare, but definitely uncommon.
