Welcome and you are probably going to find most of the people here are not into audio that much. I myself love it and had a shop for a few years and want to open another. I have 4- 6x9's in the rear deck and am removing the rear seat and putting 2 Digital Designs 12's in where the backrests should be and where the seat bottoms should be a fiberglass amp rack with 6- 1000 watt Memphis digital sub amps. and 2 4 channel memphis amps. In the front I have the kenwood (dont remember the model number) fold out screen with dvd,cd. Doing 2-6's 1-4" and 1 or 2 1" tweets in each door and a 5&1/4 or 6&1/2 in the kick panel..on the mids and tweets I dont know if I will use memphis or MB Quart, and may use Focal Tweets or MB's...the 6x9's are memphis...I have all of this stuff and a shit ton more just sitting in my garage waiting to go in something....all in custom fiberglass painted to match the car.

By the way how did you come up with your user name? I used to have a boat named the Rum Runner and a boat rental business called RumRunner Boat Rentals...

Haha when you were a kid...You still are a kid....and you never watched Dukes of Hazzard you watched the reruns....LOL No disrespect I think Its pretty cool actually that you even knew what that meant or knew anything about it. If you asked most people your age what a rumrunner was they would have no idea or say a foo foo drink from TGIF's LOL get some pics of the car up on here. I had a few sport bikes that had a switch to cut the rear lights and rigged up an old choke cable to flip my tag up under my fender

thats all that visible in my car. 10" kicker cvr in a custom built(my first one)box tuned to 35hz. the amp is where the spare tire would be.

i only run front speakers since thats all you need to hear, they are hifonics 6.5" components with the tweeters in the dash and the amp under the divers seat.

In my 85 I pulled the factory amp out of the center dash and replaced it with two MB quart tweets and 3 1/2 polk audios in the stock locations.I put 6 1/2 Polks in the kick panels (custom panels)Then a 3 1/2 and 4 in the rear hatch area stock side panel locations and 4 8" pro series Rockfords (showing my age here) I powered it with a punch 75 to the mids and highs and a punch 150 to the subs, cross over was something from audio control EQL or EQX something like that.

On a side note here is what I have found, the nicer your car sounds, the less you want to hear a radio....I have a nice basic jl speaker/amp setup in my white blower mustang and haven't listened to the thing in months....just keep that in mind before you dump tons in to an audio system

I had a 15" MA Audio comp sub with an 800w amp along with new pioneer speakers all around. I ditched the sub and amp a few weeks ago because it's stupid in a loud car. I listen to my radio like 30% of the time I drive.

ill take some pics of mine tomorrow, i have an 89 with two kicker L7s two 1400 watt crunch amps, one for my two subs ( its a two channel ), another for my highs and mids ( its the 4 channel) i have 5/7s in the back with 6.5s in the doors and of course my 3.5s in the dash..... all with stock appearance except for the subs in the back there built into the wheel-well its pretty sweet its pretty freaking loud to man. Kicker makes the best qualitly things as far as im concerned.... idk what everyone else thinks.... Btw all my speakers are kicker ds

+1 on listening to the growl...i have had systems in every car i have ever owned..its usually the first thing i did...i love car audio...i was always the guy building the boxes and installing for all my buddies...won a few competitions around my area

BUT, spend a little money on exhaust, cam etc and you wont want to listen to music at all except that of the car.

also keep in mind car audio is not light...it will definately slow you down..
IMO...JL Audio for subs (there is none better), MB Quart highs, Memphis amps are good and affordable.

I don't care how good the car sounds you have to have some good tunes! I had 4-15s in my 85 mustang. Was it heavy? yes did it slow it down? yes but it was a compromise I was willing to make. It all depends on what you like and what your goals are.
