89 lx coupe opinions?

1989 Ford Mustang LX Coupe

this is probably the best notch ive found in a while thats in my price range.

the kid first put the car up for $3500 about a week and a half ago, which is when i sent an e-mail saying i could give him as much as 2800. he said he couldn't sell it for lower than 3200 w/o or 3300 with the camshaft. so now im hoping he'll go for the 2800.. gonna wait a week when i have all the cash and then give him a call?

whats your opinion on the car and do you think its worth the $2800?

ill get the vin soon.

for whats done and what condish it seems to be in, 2800 will be a steal. good luck. its hard but you should let him sit on it for a few days or maybe a week. and then cash talks..

I would say it depends on how many you can find in your area and what they go for. Here in NM you can hardly find coupes at all so that would be a sweet deal. Whereas in other places you can find them all around that price. But truth is, what is it worth to you? How much do you like it? Because either you will pay and be happy or pay and feel like you wasted your hard earned cash. and are you going to be happy with the mods that are already on the car? Or are you going to want to start changing everything? If youre going to change it you may as well start stock and do it to your preference the first time.

Ive been looking for a notch for well over 3 months now and this is the only one ive found in my price range that looks fairly decent. Honestly i would like to buy a stock coupe but no one sells them, they're either 4cyl, or completely modded and askin 6k+. The only thing i don't really like about the car is the color... but i can just re spray it over the winter if i decided the colors too much.

There are some nice mustangs for sale here in Orlando.. I made the drive to SC when I bought mine and trailered it home.. Sometimes you have to look outside your area to find a good deal..

Im using search tempest.. im always looking outside my area.. but FL is a little too far away. i might be able to get away with a car 150 miles away so thats what im looking for. I dont have a trailer so i'd be hard for me to get a roller.

Info for the 91 notch:

He said the car needs a valve cover gasket, ashtray, radio, and the plastic that holds the carpet down to the floor.

i asked how low he would go and he said $2200-2300 would be the lowest. he also said he could tow it to be on the safe side so i dont do damage to the engine with the oil leaking out.

Got the vin also if someone could do a carfax for me real quick?

Bad valve cover gaskets are not going to leak enough oil to cause engine damage driving the car home. Something smells fishy. Either way the car should be easily worth the money he is asking unless its got some major chassis or body issues.

yea that was my idea.. the not driving it home part i didn't want any chance of anything going wrong. Said he would only charge me for gas money around (40$)... Only thing that sucks is ive got to wait to be able to get a ride up to conn to check the car out... would be nice if someone lived nearby and could check the car out for me?

Be careful with that. For one, he probably won't let the car leave without it being paid in full. For two, if I towed the car to your house thinking you were going to pay me X number of dollars when we got there and they you low balled me expecting me to keep the car if I didn't drop the price, I'd beat your ass on the spot and then take the car home. That is dirty and low balling pussys like that piss me off. For three, the car is priced well right now unless something is majorly wrong with it.

Just called and got some info on the first car (89 notch)
said the car is inspected/registered/insured
needs $3000 to pay for school... so idk if ill be able to get him down much more
Interior: missing rear seat & radio
needs rear tires
and a little bit of rust at the bottom of the door.. but he said it was recently painted last year so idk whats up with the rust.

also got the vin #:
1FABP40E9KF148919

So again if anyone has a subscription to carfax and could get me one for this car and the other one it would be greatly appreciated.

yea i wasnt planning on screwing the kid lol i was thinking more of he would go lower than $2200 because people will usually go lower than what they say. I'm just hoping theres nothing else wrong with the car, but yea i wouldnt pay him until he arrived at my house with the car Maybe give him a couple hundred or just the gas money.. sure we could figure somthing out. Do you think there could be something else that caused the valve cover gasket to leak? should i look for anything specific around the valve covers?

what do you guys thinks should i still check the car out?

the kid says the title is clean and said he wasn't aware of the accident but he did notice the left front fender was a different color on the inside. personally i think he knew about it. anyways it also looks like the car hasnt been registered since 2000... so idk what would happen when i went to register it?
