What was taken apart? Did you have the distributor out? Did you have the spark plug wires off?

You might want to double check the firing order and verify that the distributor is phased correctly. I'm willing to bet your problem is related to the distributor and/or firing order.

And its wired 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 and run counter clockwise on the distributor?

If so you need to verify the distributor is in correctly and get #1 cylinder to TDC on the compression stroke.

pull the number 1 sparkplug and turn the engine by hand with your finger sealing the plug hole til you feel the pressure push against your finger, thats the compression stroke.
look in or feel inside with something and while still turning the motor by hand watch for the piston to come up as far as its going to thats top dead center on # 1
put distributor in the engine while keeping the rotor pointed to the # 1 terminal ( you can just make a mark on the body of the dist even with the #1 terminal
it may move a bit off the mark as you put it in when the gears mesh but that should get you in phase. now you'll still have to get the timing set when its running

if you want to search the technique to find pics it's called dead timing the engine

good luck

timing/firing order is fucked up. And plug those extra vacuum lines coming off of the intake

youre also missing a nut on that top bolt, do you have all of the nuts on? including the one inside the intake behind the cover?

Timing is retarded.

Good catch. That is a major vacuum leak there.

pluged all the vacume leaks. i figured out by looking at pics that the rotor on the distributor was a little wrong it spun very little to the right when installing but it cranks up and idles fine still needs to mess with the timming a little
