Mounting my nitrous brackets

I think Ill drill into the more solid portion of the car under the hatch area carpet. I had the brackets in before bolted just to the particle board-like stuff under the carpet. It was always not very solid. It loosened up .

So, .. I think when I take the tank out (gas) to put in a new fuel send unit Ill initiate this. Ill take long bolts and put them thru from the bottom. They will stick up thru the carpet on the inside of the hatch area.

There Ill use four nuts to secure this in place. Then w the four bolts secure I can put on and off the bracket , secured there w four nuts.

Im no mechanic :wink so tell me how this sounds...

The brackets have to be secure to pass tech. There are many ways you can mount them. Just use your head and do it safely. What works really nice is to drill the holes just big enough for the bolts to fit and then weld the nuts to the hatch floor. Then you just thread the bolts thru the brackets into the nuts. It makes it easier for removal and installation.

Darrell,

U mean go down thru the brackets into the floor nuts right? Would I need a lock nut to make it stay?

I mean weld the nuts to the floor in that hatch area. Then you just set the brackets on top of the nuts and bolt them down. Lock nuts won't be necessary.
