5.0 Engine rattle

What up people. I have some questions about my 5.0

For about a month now the car runs fine when cool but once it warms up and I go at WOT The motor has a rattle that sounds gross! It is a nasty rattling grinding noise. And only happens when the car is warmed up and stock temp guage is about half way or a little less. Any idea what it is? I saw some black smoke out of the exhaust last time I romped on the gas. The fuel system is stock and has no major motor mods. Any ideas?

it's detonation. check the timing.

something like it.

I run the cheap gas. It has no major mods other than exhaust.
Its like umm.....the car runs real nice on lower RPMS but once it gets to about 4k-5k rpm is when the nose starts. And it only happens sometimes. But when it does happen it feels nasty. its like its not a consistant sound like a bag or marbles would sound like its............i dunno a scratchy rattly noise?! and last time it happend it let out a cloud ofblack smoke. I died a little inside when i saw it

Sounds like a plan, I will just wanna finish up this Sams Club gas then i will make a stop at the shell and put in some of that v-power.

Thats what it sounds like to me. When I was 16, I drove around forever with some nasty detonation,20* base, I guess I was thinking it was gonna sound like a Knock or a ping.

I don't think so, to bump it would be to turn it back, or retard it until it stops detonating
