Ignition problem?
Ok I got fire goin to my coil but It's not goin from my coil to the distributer. I changed my coil, ignition control module, and ignition pick-up. But the problem still remains does anybody have a clue of wat it could be.

What kind of distributer are you using? Does it have two wires coming from it and a vacuum advance?? Or is it a TFI unit??

Are you using any type of MSD box?? Have you done anything else to your wiring harness?? any additions like gauges?? or anything at all since the last time it worked properly?? on your TFI module
the #1 top wire is the PIP signal to the EEC the #2 is the the trigger wire for the coil #3 should be 12v in "start" #4 should be 12v in "start" and "run" #5 is your "spout" and #6 is the ground to the EEC after ruling out the coil by using one that you KNOW works, I would use a test light to check for 12v on the TFI, then check all connections from the TFI to the EEC ( behind the pass. side kick panel) As an FYI, on the coil itself, you can rarely ever see 12v to the coil, the computer controls the power to the coil, so I'm not sure when you say you have fire goin to the coil.....

no MSD box. The EEC module and engine harness matches up to a 1987 mustang but the fuel pump and instrument cluster matches up to a 1986 mustang. I took a meter to all the distributer wires and got:
#1-4V Blue {Top} #2-12V Yellow(Spout) #3-0V Red/Blue wire #4-12V Red #5-12V Green #6-4V Black |

When I just wired mycar with a TFI dizzy.... the wire specs I gave you were for a TFI-IV dizzy..... your readings don't seem to match. Unless there are different versions of the TFI-IV dizzy, I'd say you found your problem.....but I have been known to be wrong before.... unless someone else chimes in on this. Do you have a Haynes or Chiltons manual?? that would probably give you the best answer if mine doesn't work.

Yea I got a haynes book. The wires running to the TFI-IV are right but I'm not sure about the order or the volts that are supposed to come from it. The book shows me its a 87 mustang EEC wiring harness but the body harness is the 86 mustang harness. Did Ford make some cars with other years parts?

Yes, ford did make lots of different cars/years with universal parts.... different years wiring harnesses also used different colored wires, even if they were routed the same. Make double sure you have the right year harness also.

Well I checked through the schematics in the Haynes book and it shows I have a 87 EEC wiring harness and a 86 body harness.

I can't think of anything else to say to guide you, if you checked the coil and you know it works, and the wires are correct, then it should work. I can't think of much else through typing, I would need to get my hands dirty with it, and scope out what you really got goin on.....

My car did the same thing when i first got it. Fuel, but no spark. It ended up being one of the fuseable links in the wiring near the voltage regulator on the drivers side of the car. This may or may not help, but it is a suggestion.

Not a bad idea, ford did a shitty job at wiring with their fusible links, I just went through the entire car and replaced every single one of them when I got it. I would go down and replace them all, this may help.... it should only cost you about 15 bucks for all of the ones you need, you can get some for any of your local parts store....

I wish I could help but my car is a carb with a points distributor anyway since its not the original motor.
