Subframe connectors

Installed a set of Steeda subframe connectors Saturday and a noticable difference as far a ride quality. So if anybody out there is wondering, skeptical or just toying with the idea of subframe connectors on a convertable, it is money well spent, wish I would have done it 6 months ago.

I am in the process. How long did it take to install and did you weld them?

Thanks for the advice, I have an 83 convertible which twists and bucks over every bump. Do they connect only to the 2 subrames (front and back) or do they also tack weld to the floor pan?

Do you think adding a link under the transmision between the 2 connectors would add any stiffness, or a waste of time?

micikaro : It took about 8 hours to do, you may have to remove (grind off the pop rivets) 4 plates one in each corner of the subframe to get the connectors to sit right. I helped my dad weld them in.

83 5.0 : The ones I bought had the torque box reinforcement plate and the plate that attaches to the bolts that come through the floor from the front seat. It just connected the front and back subframes and we did not weld to the floor pan (may be to thin and there are plenty of other good welding points) just to the existing subframe, . I dont know anything about the link between the two, but if it were me I wouldn't just because later on down the road if you have to drop trans or change exhaust, etc it may just get in your way.

Be careful on the passengers side (atleast on my car) the fuel lines follow the subframe from the quarter window to the engine.

I put a set on my 94 and love them. Mine are the tube ones that dont have the seat connectors.. I also have the front connectors from a convertible mustang to stiffen up the front.
