short sweep and full sweep gauges.

Im looking at getting gauges for my 5.0 and Im not understanding what the difference between full sweep and short sweep gauges are. And what about When it somes to A/F gauges? Whats the difference between wideband and standard A/F gauges? I know the wideband gauges cost a crap load more than a stardard A/F gauge. Do I need a wideband or will i be ok with a standard A/F gauge. A/F is an important gauge but I dont want to buy an expensive wideband A/F if it isnt necessary.

get a wideband, the basic AF is garbage, its not accurate ,its just gonna jump from rich to lean and when your on WOT itll be right in the middle, i think short sweep is just a short range of numbers, full sweep is from 0 to what ever, its a full range of numbers depending on guage,

^correct. A wideband (although expensive) is a wise investment especially if you plan on modding. It will tell you the health of your car whether she is rich, stoich, or lean. as stated it is by far more accurate then the cheaper one. there is nothing more important then knowing how your engine is doing when you are WOT.

A short sweep gauge basically is less detail, as the gauge numbers are closer together, Say 70 degree's of 'change' in the needle. Well a full sweep might take up 3/4 or more of the gauge.
