O-Ring
i am looking at getting trick flow heads with o-ring grooves (so i get the 1/2 in head bolt size for my 351w) and was just wondering what you guys have paid for o-ringing the block.

why would you need to o-ring the block for..are you going to be using a 300+ shot or 20 psi on a turbo ..if not you don't need it

i wouldnt o-ring em, i the new gaskets out there are great and i have been told it not needed unless you are making more that 18psi of boost. in my current setup i do have the block o-ringed. i am in the process of having a 331 dart block built with afr's. without o-rings.

the reason i wanted to is because the only trick flow heads that use 1/2in head bolts, in the config i want, use o-ring gaskets. would it be easier to just have the (7/16in) heads machined to use 1/2 in head bolts?

Don't get the o-ring heads. They are not needed. Just use a good MLS head gasket. I know guys running big superchargers and turbos that don't use o-ring junk. That is a thing of the past. What configuration do you want? Because as far as I know all TFS heads come drilled 1/2" and to use them on a 302 block you use the 7/16" bushings that they supply.

im just lookin to buy a pair of the twisted wedge heads (non-cnc) with the dual valve springs for up to .600" lift with 1/2" head bolts....if you look on summit at TFS-51400005 and TFS-51400004, the TFS-51400004 dont have the bushings under the "suggested parts" this also agrees w/ the trick flow site

It appears they don't use the bushings anymore.
Right off the TFS website: NOTE: Maximum camshaft lift with factory flat top pistons: Twisted Wedge: .540" lift; Track Heat: .600" lift Check piston to valve clearance before installation Stock stamped Ford rocker arms are not recommended Dome-style pistons interfere with Trick Flow’s unique combustion chamber design. Conventional flat top or dished pistons will work TFS-51400002, TFS-5140004, and TFS-51400010 heads use 7/16" head bolts. 1/2" head bolts can be used by drilling out restrictions TFS-51400003, TFS-51400005, and TFS-51400011 heads use 1/2" head bolts
