carbed H/C/I 302 miss/sputter below 2k, and miss at 5k+

Just got my motor running yesterday, and am trying to get it tuned in better. Its a stock shortblock 302, Windsor Sr. heads, X303 cam, performer 289 intake (switching to victor jr. tomorrow), 1.6 rr, holley 4 barrel carb, etc.

Just got back from driving it, and it seems whenever I take off from a stop, unless I give it a good amount of gas (like 1200rpms, and hold it there), it cuts out, and almost dies, or any many cases does actually die. Also, just cruising down the road, it develops a bit of a miss when keeping it steady around 2k or less, but when I give it gas it clears up and seems fine. I have tried a couple little 2nd and 3rd gear pulls also, and around 5k, it breaks up and misses pretty bad as well.

Unfortunately I don't have much info on the carb, or what its set at. It's exactly how it was when it was on the stock longblock, so I'm sure it needs some work. Also, I'm not 100% sure on where the timing is, last I checked it was around 15* initial. I'll pull a couple plugs tomorrow, and try to get a good timing reading on it as well. I'm just looking for opinions on where/what to check.

Here are the #1 and #2 plugs:

Have you gone through the carb? I'm assuming it's a used carb. How old is the Dizzy? Is there any shaft play? Also are you running an old ignition box, I'm assuming again it's a Dura-Spark II. Some of the Parts Stores "House" brand Ign Boxes are junk. Is the Dizzy advancing correctly with throttle? Or does the timing light jump around? Also look for vacuum leaks.

It looks like it's Running Pig Rich.
