Steam from vents

Ok i need to solve this problem its progressively getting worse, i have talked to a few people i live around they seem to think its either my heater core or my thermostat is getting clogged Causing my engine to over heat....

But the sad part is today i was driving around and my temp gauge was at 140 or so.... usually where it is but steam was coming from the vents slowly then i started to head home about 4 miles away or so and water started dripping from under my dash, that shit burned the hell outta me.... anyways then i got home put her in park and open the hood while she was running steam just blew through all the vents and my temp gauge was at like cold start WTF!!!

Yeah through my freaking dash man.... you think my thermostat is messed up too if its saying im at cold start temp or my sending unit for the thermostat?

well i would think your temp is fine, the steam is from the opening in the heater core or a hose, i would look into it deeper, maybe bypass the heater core and run it see what happens. make sure u add some fluid tho.

did you check your coolant level? It may have been reading low because there was no coolant there to give you a proper reading.

Definitely heater core, get it fixed soon. Happened to me, when we pulled my dash out to replace it, all of the anti-freeze pored into the cab! Good time to steam clean the carpet! lol

Unclamp the input and output hose going to the heater core and connect them together.

Hate to hijack, but I have an a/c question.

My ac line as been disconected for a while. My friend works at a dealership, he can vacuum it out the moisture, and fill it back up. Do I need to buy anything? he said something about an a/c duct going bad when it's open for to long.

rear passenger side of motor just behind the throttle body going into the firewall... two hoses one going in one going out.

When you by pass the heater core ,you will loose your heater temp , but that is all.
My ac unit blows real cold in my Stang [ 88 model , 5.0 ] you just can't adjust the temp on the dial though.
Here in Texas [ coastal ] winters are not cold, plus I have several vehicles to drive or ride.
