Bout to get my first fox...

So i've had a 99 and a 96 v6, a 94 cobra, and a s/c 96 gt. one of my buddies has a nice lookin 88 lx its white with 10th ani. svt wheels, 40k original miles, 31 spline rear with 4.10's and a trac lock, a shifter, and exhaust work. am i going to be happy with the fox? i looove 96-98 2v's and its by far my favorite body style, but i feel its time for a change. i know they dont make a whole lot of power stock and i can do the h/c/i, but i also know that the fox's are a good be lighter. i guess my question is do you guys think i'm gonna like the car?

Is it a 5-speed? I think you'll like it. 2v's are slooowww. Fox's make up for the small lack in power with weighing less.

i just like the 2v's in general not necessarily the 96-98. dont get me wrong i love 4v's and i actually like the 3v motors a lot too, but the motor i had in my car was a 2v out of a 2000 gt and i just liked it a lot. but even with the procharger i wasnt satisfied with the low end tq which is why im looking at goin back to a 5.0. and the guy im buyin the car from has replaced almost everything under the hood and i know for a fact that it runs good, but if something breaks...o well. gotta love those fords. haha

The peak hp numbers for the fox are deceiving due to how much torque it has and how low of rpm that power comes on.

You'll definitely like the fox. 4.10s might be a bit much gear for that car if you're gonna be on the highway a lot. Mine's got a 100% stock motor, and it likes to cruise at ~1100 rpm with 2.73s (this is an auto). My original plan was gonna be 3.73s, but after driving it, I think I'll only go for 3.55s. Maybe a built motor (or at least different cam) would make it more rpm-happy, but the stock motor definitely likes it down low.

And for the record, *all* V8 Mustangs made since '84 or so have TracLocks stock.

You'll love it, but be prepared for interior issues. Of course with that low of mileage you might not get the standard leaks, rattles, and noise that I've seen with all of my prior fox bodies. But I wouldn't trade my fox for anything.

The mod list and cost is huge. The 5.0L is just as easy and about as cheap as your Chebbie 350 parts.

5.0 foxes are more fun than SN95 5.0's because they're lighter. And you'll love the 4.10's

Well next time you want to build a real modular, go 4v. It has all the grunt a 4.6 2v 281 cubic inch motor can handle and doesn't stop revving till 7 grand.

Mine doesn't leak or rattle and the only noise comes from the flow dumps.. jealous ?

i'm gonna have some extra money after i get the car from him and sell my truck so what would be the best route to go with the car? i like blowers and stuff but i've had a s/c car and i'm thinkin about addin some inches. so what do you guys think? 347 or a s/c? if i put a blower on it ill take the 4.10s out and put a 3.73 or a 3.55 in it.

well, a 347 requires removing the engine, the blower can be installed in a day

well yea i know stroking its gonna require a lot more work but i've had a car with a s/c and i'm wantin a little more motor. and if i was gonna put a blower on it i would go ahead and do the internals anyways because thats why i dont have the s/c mustang anymore. it had stock internals and well you can do the math there. so if im gonna do the internals and go through all that trouble anyways i would rather stroke it while its already out and then maybe later on down the road, if i wanted more power, i would put a blower on it.
