A/C help............
I Just purchased another 86 gt and decided to try and get the a/c to work...Its hot here and probably would help it sell....
I recharged the system(was already converted to 134a).... Compressor only kicks on for three seconds and shuts off.... I can sit there and unplug and plug in the accumulator and the pump kicks on.... It will only come on when I do this.... Pressure is right around 50.00 I jumped the a/c clutch to the battery and the a/c blows ice cold.... I dont want to be ghetto and run a switch to the compressor.... Any ideas?????????????????????

There was a guy lastweek on here that was having same issue's. i believe it was the black/yellow wire that hold the power coming off fuse panel that had a break somewhere in the dash that he couldnt see. but im not 100% sure just look for that post.

Manually forcing the compressor run is not a good long term solution but good for troublshooting.
You could be low on charge of freon although the low side could still have some pressure (above about 25 i beleive), you could actually have moisture, too much oil, air etc in there creating the static pressure. If the system was out of service for a long time, no doubt that is is full of air and moisture and what ever corrosion comes along with those and should probably purged out and start over with freon again. The only way to accurately diagnose is with a set of gauges (one on high and low so you can see what is going on) along with a thermometer. Sounds like the clutch itself is fine and its wiring is fine, you need to find out what is telling it to shutdown, bad pressure switch or good switch and no/low/blocked freon path.

amazing, leaving one word out changes everything lol. Clutch cycling switch circuit. Check for worn/rubbed through wires and check the switch inside the car, make sure its got good connections
