E3, you think it is the Head and intake combo?

What intake would you recommend?

Could the intake hold back the power that much?

Are your heads/springs used and how used? Can those springs support that cam? What rpm was your peak torque and hp? Just throwing stuff out there.

Spings are the ones that came with the AFR 185's...all parts are brand new.

Peak RPM before drop off was around 5700, i will post the dyno sheet when i get in thursday and tell you the specs from the cam....hopefully that will tell you guys something i dont know....it looked good and consistant to me with no sudden drop offs until peak RPM. But i didnt notice fuel/air numbers on the graph from the Dynojet...is this in small print or do i need to request this seperately?

I even called Jasper to see if there was something different from the remanufactured HO 5.0's and stock and he said they are identical.

I actually had to take the car back in Monday because it would not start when it got hot...the motor would turn over normally, but would not fire up..as soon as it cooled down, it starts right up...could this have something to do with it?

I'm not running your combo, but I do have AFR 205's I had to change my springs to match the cam. Their is a lot here to figure out but it kind of sounds like your choice of heads is a little big and your killing velocity

i have thought the 185's could be part of it..i think the 165's would work better now, but not in the future....my next step is 347 kit and then a SC, so i was trying to plan as best i could for the future.

185's will be better did you notch the pistons for them?

the intake/springs are why the power dropps off that early

you really need to call whoever designed your cam, tell them where the power was being made/fell off at and see what they say...

that could be the problem and you tried to put a bandaid on it.. the problem with afr 185's is the piston to valve clearence with a larger lift cam.. the only way to get around that is to go with a low lift and or short duration cam which can seriously affect the problem. while you thought it was well thought out it was really just hurting you in the long run. in this case i would say the 165's would have been better.

honestly you should sell the AFR heads and buy some trickflow twisted wedge heads. and get a new cam made. you may be able to find someone to trade you heads. or when you have your 347 made make sure you buy the correct notched pistons and a new cam.

thanks e3...i knew the heads i chose would not be exactly perfect for the setup now, but again i was trying to plan as best i could for the future. i think i will start saving for the 347 and just deal with it for now. i came so close to getting the twisted wedge heads, but felt that the afr 185's would be better in the long run.....But, i will still post the cam specs and dyno sheet when i get home tomorow
