Big Block Fox Opinions
ok i am considering starting another project for a big block coupe track car with nitrous...i have wat i think is about a 70s model f250 with a 460 and wat im gonna guess is a c6 that i got for free....the truck has set for 8 to 10 years but the motor had been rebuilt just a few thousand miles before it was parked..
i also know where a 4 cyl coupe is that i could probly pick up for 300 bucks or so.....this car would be one of those just stripped down ugly cars put together with what i can find if you know what i mean i was thinkin maybe different pistons to bump up compression with a new intake cam and carb setup....and then hit it with about as much spray as i can get away with....what could that stock bottom end handle?200 shot?250? this would be a cool project for me because that truck is actually what i learned to drive in when i was about 7 or 8 |

forged pistons and stock rods/crank will take a 250 shot and keep going.
Hell Hp tv did a stock style rebuild, ok cam, and an intake and did almost 400hp put some flat tops and find a set of decent heads, which ones Im not sure, but I know theres a few factory castings that flow really well, well besides the sc and scj heads

yah i think the stock heads and nitrous will be enough for me...i just like toys.....i wanna try to do it as cheap as possible....first i would just wanna be able to get the motor in the car....
also another question.....i think the truck has a 9inch rearend....would it be worth it to build and modify that rear end to go under a fox.....i think i may just try to sell it and find a fox 8.8 |

heads will be the down fall. dont bother porting them. they are junk. throw an intake forged pistons and a custom nitrous grind cam. i think you'll be please. dont forget about suspension or its not gonna go anywhere

That coupe's gonna have a 7.5", though, and it'll definitely need to be replaced.
I don't believe the 9" is so much stronger than the 8.8" that I'd spend the time/money/effort to swap it in, assuming you have a spare 8.8 handy, that is.

9" Also weights more too... A 8.8 trac loc would be the way to go, unless you plan on having over 450 HP then a 9'' would be good.

I would only go 9 inch if you have a balls to the walls big block making 650 lb ft tq or something..
8.8s are strong..

Aluminum heads/intake will help a LOT in the weight department... Ford Racing still sells the Super Cobra Jet heads for 385-series motors, too, if there's not better aftermarket heads available.
