pete jackson gear drive


ok so i get teh car back up and running today only to have oil gush out of the motor, further inspection the timing chain gasket is done for, since i have to pull everything off to replace it is a pete jackson gear drive worth having will it make a different or what or just a waste of money, ill be ordering all the gaskets monday so ill be checking back for any onfo from u guys

650 demon,mild cam, l/t bbk headers, x-pipe with 40 series delta flow, msd ignition, electric fan, underdrive pullies on order, im looking to get new twisted wedge heads in the near future even though my brother swears up and down gt40 heads will do just fine, he says he hears to many horror stories about alum heads

Just never let the engine overheat becausee the heads will warp. Other than that, twisted wedges should suit your setup much better.

The Trick Flow or AFR 165cc heads are way better that the GT40's

I'd dump the gear drive for a timing chain.

i had a gear drive in my truck & every thought it was a blower.. & i just never opened my hood for people! haha!

My reason is why spend almost 250 bucks for something you dont need?

yea i asked because i didnt know if it would be a improvement or not, if i dont need it then thats 250 that can go to suspension or some other part i need

It does help the timing be a little bit more accurate but mostly it just makes noise. If you want super accurate timing you can get a normal timing chain and a MSD crank trigger set up for cheaper than the gear drive minus the noise...

Gear drives transfer alot of harmonics to the valve train.

Ok did not know that but it makes sense.. Noise = frequency = harmonics..
