Walbro & AFM Big Pump

I got a 9 lbs KB supercharged 331 cid.. for that, I've got a 255 LPH in-tank Walbro fuel pump to go with my FRPP 42# injectors... I thought it was enough.

the strange thing is that I got this note on my PMS startup sheet I got from AFM saying: Must have a AFM Big Pump (it's an inline fuel pump) along with my existing 255 lph in-tank pump to handle 42# injectors

Walbro kits are sold for around $90-120 while AFM is sold for $280

do I really need that Big Pump? is the ordinary 255 intank pump OK for my application, or do I need to replace it with GSS340 high pressure? thanx!

We have several 5.0 cars out of the dyno shop that are running 500+ rwhp with the Walbro "forced induction" aka high pressure intank pump and stock lines and rails, and an adjustable regulator.

So to answer your question....no you do not need the external inline pump.

Sounds like AFM is up to thier old tricks again.

Thanks fellas.. Tony, Justin..

I already had the Walbro GSS340 intank pump 255 LPH (normal pressure, not the HP one) installed into the tank so I ordered an inline pump GSL392 (that is 255 High Pressure) as a booster to aid the first pump.

If there's a way to activate the inline HP pump only at WOT... I'll check it out. Thanks again.

If the inline pump is not running...it will be a major restriction in your fuel system.
It must be running while the car is running.
