help with 351 heads


hey guys i have an 84 302 that i got 351 heads for the heads are the same year as the motor what do i need to do to put them into the car?

get bushings i believe since the bolts holes in a 351 head are bigger than the ones in the 302. not sure what else

couldnt i just use the same bolts for the 302 heads on the 351 heads... and would the intake off the 302 fit the 351 heads correctly?

yes the intake will fit just fine. You can use the bolts from the 302 just get the bushings for them

not they are too big. 351 head bolts I believe are 1/2" and the 302 are 7/16" if i remember correctly

time it according to the cam specs. You should be fine. I have a set of 302 heads on my 351.

why smaller heaDS ON a bigger block? what difference will the 351 heads do to the motor

the go into the hole the put the bolt through. they keep the head from moving because of the larger hole ones the head is installed

351W heads and 302 head are exactly the same thing EXACTLY! the 1 and only thing different is the bolt size you have to have bushings to put 351W heads on a 302 and you have to drill out 302 heads for a 351 how do you not understand this?

most are. some of the early early 351 heads had different size valves. I will have to wait till i get home to know exactly what years but they are rare now-a-days
