Streetable Compression Ratio
what is the highest comp ratio i could go on the streets withouthaving detonation problems. i know if i went high i could keep to a mild timing and run colder plugs. anyone runnin high comp? when i figured up the comp on my new motor it ends up being close to 11-1, dont really want to run race gas but willing to mix i guess. anyone use octane boost? almost seems like a hoax to me. please advise.
thanks

on 93 octane, 12:1 should be manageable, but it is going to really depend on the motor. Aluminum heads help a bit as they dont get the same hot spots iron heads do...

My understanding is that aluminum heads allow for "1 more" in terms of your CR, i.e. if with iron heads you can do 9.5:1, aluminum would allow for 10.5:1.
I don't hear much in the way of anything past 10.5:1 that uses pump gas, but in california all we can get is 91 without going to a racetrack and paying $6/gallon.
