New to stangs

So I want to get a mustang 1986-1993 I love the Fox body style on them I guess it would come on some of the GT's and the cobras, im currently driving a modded Eagle Talon and wanted to make the jump over... I love LOVE the lumpy idle and the throaty sound of the exhaust.. So I guess I have a few questions and stuff like that im looking to make about 400ish or about there HP... and was wondering on what I needed for mods...so far I have exhaust, headers, cams, intake where would that get my HP wise? I really want to supercharge it but was not sure on what kit I needed to get I dont want to fork out alot of money on a supercharger kit when I only need a $2000 kit... I want a kit that will get me to that range of HP but still going as cheap as possible on the kit.. what else would I need in the HP range do I have to start looking at forged internals or can the stock internals handle that power reliably? What about the clutch and drive train do I need a new clutch or fly wheel or can it handle the power with out slipping? What else do you all recommend looking into and how much HP would I gain out of headers, exhaust, intake and cams and what would that GENERALLY put me into in the 1/4th mile? and how much would around 400hp put me into the 1/4the 1/4mile thanks alot for the help!!!!

As far as what you need for the hp you are lookin 4 I dont feel like typing that much right now plus I dont know anything about superchargers but with a mustang hp is secondary to having the right suspension to hook up on the street and at the track. Have all the hp you want but if you cant hook up it's useless. I have smoked guys on the street with Mustangs and other cars that have 500+ hp and nothin else. I have almost 420rwhp all motor in a 2850lb notchback with a full front and rear drag suspension... Mustangs are not AWD so you have to take extra time in getting the power to the ground. To much I hear "oh I have 600+ hp to the wheels and I blow by them cuz at 60 mph they are fighting to control their car while my car just tweakes and lunges past them...

What mods do you have done to your Mustang 400hp would be good for me if I can get that without using the SC then that would be great so what mods do you have?

Holy shit... haha so a very long list of mods... I really didnt want to get into crate motors I wanted to keep the 302 in ther I think thats what they came with and then just build that up it would be to hard for me to get my hands on a crate motor and shipping to Canada would be a bitch, what could I do to the stock motor to get it up in the 400ish range?

Not unless you install a 200 shot of nitrous. Dont expect your motor to last... You dont have to get a crate motor but you will need to rebuild it with a 331 or a 347 stroker kit... Or you could attach 200 actual horses to the front of your car...

I'm currently parting out my modded to hell and back Talon to get a Mustang ($450 away from owning it) and gonna slap on my T-67 turbo that was on my Talon. Keeping some of the mods from my Talon to make the project a lil easier on my wallet. Some of the things like gauges, wideband, turbo (duh), would keep the intercooler but it's too big, and some other things.

If I were you, I'd go turbo. Depending on your mods, you could possibly already have some of the mods you need to save you some money. 255lph pump will swap over, intercooler if it's not too large, turbo if it's not a really tiny one, muffler if it's a good free flowing exhaust or possibly just go open pipe with no muffler, bov will swap over, etc. Looks like your best bet to me and if you know much about turbo'd cars, it wouldn't be too much different.

Damn bro, a t-67 on a 4 cyl? thats alot of aluminum to spin. on a sbf ford that turbo should be good for about 550hp. A stock 5.0 bottom, some good heads and a small nitrous kit would get you past 400 pretty easy, shouldent cost more than 2500 bucks. stangzilla is right about car setup, I've seen guys run in the high 12s with under 260rwhp. Ive also seen guys with 500hp run 13s, like gt500s.

Yeah, I don't know what this guy has as far as mods on his Talon but mine was a 2.3 liter stroker that I was revving a lil past 8k rpm with a lot of good mods. Built motor, big cams, built tranny, etc. etc. My s/n is V8s_are_slow on most forums, but now that I'm getting pulled to the dark side, I've had to change it and on one forum, I just changed it to V8s_aren't_slow

But yeah, I agree and think traction can be the biggest factor on his times. I know I loved AWD.

with a a v-8 youll have alot more headroom for hp, and better launches than most of the ff cars and some of the awd cars. From my trips to the track I've seen a few imports run, and there 60' are allways a bit slow for thetr ETs. like 2.00-2.2 60' on a high 11 sec pass. Off topic, I remember my first honda experience. It was 1994, having my first mustang and a shiny new drivers license, and Me and some buddies were at a Denny's hanging out drinking coffee. This dude is in there talking about his civic and how fast it was. So we go over and bullshit with him and he says it's a bla, bla, 12sec car, having never have never heard of a 4 cyl. race car, I agree to a little race ,just for fun. I know I had a 13.80 car and was pretty this guy was an idiot or just a little crazy. wel ine up, take off, and he kills me. To top it off, back then when nobody around has heard of a modded import, every one just kept telling me I coulden't drive. that sucked

I read in a book that if you take the same crank that 400m engine has (in like older lincolns) you can make your 5.0 a stroker with minor engine bores.

why do u have those? did i miss the FI? for that combo u would probably make more power with 24lbs injectors and a 65mm tb.

Cuz I have a wet shot of No2 and in a couple of years when I get tired of my N\A motor I will be building a turbo motor.. With the PMS I have I can taylor my injectors to run right with my combo.. I set up my motor like that purposely...
