i have a 87 myself. I'm in a different boat then you though. Me I got the 95mm maf in which in your case you dont and would have to buy seperately and have it wired to your harness into your computer. once you get the maf wired then i would install at least 30lb injectors since your running stock heads upper and lower and bottom end. the stock vortechs usually come with the 3.33 size pulley in which you will see between 8-10psi which is good enough for you for now. when you upgrade your top end and have some forged internals then you can start thinking about boosting more.
Me, I got edelbrock performer Rpm aluminum heads, edelbrok upper and lower, edelbrock 65mm TB spacer, 65mm bbk tb, 95mm maf lightning, forged internals, .30 over(306), tranny rebuilt with fordracing and hardend gears, 3.73 gears, MSD, E303 cam, highflow water pump, vortech s-trim w/anderson power pipe and only boosting 8psi at the moment. ME, i can boost up to 15psi safely if i wanted to on my stock block but i have forged internals unlike you have none and to be safe stay at 8psi. Im running 13.3 on street tires and that's slow for me but i have 42lb injectors which is killing me right now. I would have gotten away with the 30lb injectors at the most 36lb. but im working on getting re tuned in the next couple weeks with a 2.87 pulley to boost 15lb which will bring me up to the 460ish or more mark to the crank.
