E brake doesnt work

I have an 88 GT used to be a stick but the poeple I bought it from had converted it to an auto(dont ask me why)

The e brake doesnt work, is it possible that the back brakes dont close as far as they are supposed to? A while back my car failed inspection because the back brakes were "worn out" even though they were new pads. Or alternately, is there a way to adjust the cable so that it works again because I can pull it much farther than I can pull my friends (also has a foxbody stang)

I also have a second off-subject question. I want to change my gauges from the 85 mph ones to the 140 mph ones. If I get a new face for them off ebay, what other parts would I need for the gauges to work right? I know just changing the face wont change the needle itself from an 85 to a 140. Do I need some kind of gear for the speedo?

I think the 85mph speedo will not work, it is designed to travel only so far. you prob have to get a new cluster.

What mods are done to the car? I can think of a few reasons why!!!

There should be a bolt end right by ur e-brake handle take a rachet and socket and u can adjust ur e-brake like that.

replace the E-Brake Line & your problem will be solved... there may be a difference in the length of brake cable from an automic to manual......

maybe the person who had it before couldnt drive a stick, maybe they had some nice mods on it and wanted it to be more consistent. Stop being a fag stangzilla. Your attitude on here the past week or so has just shown how much shit you talk behind your computer. Cool man, I used to do that until i realized a third grader could do it.

You have an automatic, you don'tr realy need and E break. I've never had to use mine, thankfully, as they are more for decoration than function on the classics.

No I am not mad, I had a 5 speed about a month ago until i parted it out and sold it. Nice profit off of that car. And if you think the reason I have an auto is because I wear a dress then try again. i may not be the fastest shifter but I can definitely drive a manual.

I have grown to like my AOD, and i have some stuff ready to go in that will step it up with manuals. I can beef up my auto to hold 5-600 hp, more than i am going to need. Put a nice stall in there and a valve body and i am set. Already have those two things.

Didnt mean fag in the gay way, just meant that you have been a dick to just about everybody, and it is hard for me to just keep my mouth shut while you degrade everybody, except Darrell, you kiss his ass too much!

Yeah, autos do not put out as much power, but can definitely perform with the so called godly 5 speeds...I believe there are some fast mofos on here running some autos.

I am just looking out for some people on here. I mean, when i say something stupid, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE correct my dumb-newb-ass as hard as you can. I don't like to make mistakes, and i learn from people getting on to me. This is a great site and i don't want some people to be intimidated by some other people on here. But as far as criticizing me, go for it bro!

If you have new brake pads then I would take a look at the drums. They can be worn down over time, especially if teh PO like to do brake stands.
Next crawl under your car. There are 3 cables total. One come down from the handle and connects the other two together. From the connection one cable runs to each wheel. Follow these and make sure they are not broken or cut. Also try adjusting it like mentioned above.

So far (As you can see). My speedo is 85 and I am damn near in a loop LOL. It point sraight down and stay's when I hit fith gear so my top speed is... straight down LOL

Getting a new cluster is unessessary... get a new cluster "panel", you know those white in the day, black with lighted numbers at night? Those ones.

I wanted to say something about this earlier, but I held my tongue. Now I shall lash out!! But first. . .

Aren't you in Arizona, Grimmy? Isn't it completely and utterly flat out there?
