Why did ford stop making the 5.0?
Whats the difference between the 95 and 96 mustang besides obvious components? I was wondering what made ford go to a 4.6? Gas milage, more power?

From what I understand, it had nothing to do with power or gas mileage, but instead it was a corporate decision to minimize the number of different types of motors they were producing. They were already putting an OHC motor in the t-bird, so they dropped the pushrod smallblock (302s and 351s), and just made more mod motors.
You'll notice the last year of the pushrod motors corresponds nicely to the last year of the Bronco, (and the early release of the new bodystyle F-150) before they switched over the SUVs and pickups to the mod motor as well. While I like my pushrods, in the end I guess the decision was for the better - getting 300hp out of a STOCK 4.6L is pretty damn good in my book.

thats pretty cool, i didnt kno that ford did that for that reason, i always thought that it was for power and gas. but oh well.

I will admit, I hate the fact the ACTUAL REAL 5.0's left the face of the earth, but i do like those modular 4.6's. It's like a rocket in a box
