That seems to happen a lot with Chevy.... something would be faster than the Corvette, so it get's held back, and then dropped from production. It happened with the Fiero, all the turbo cars/trucks (Firebird, T-type, Tyfoon/Syclone, etc). Not that Chevy's the only one to do it - Ford killed the turbo 2.3 when it was getting faster than the 5.0, and Porsche kills/detunes anything that starts getting faster than the 911 (914-6, 924, Cayman).

A V6 Camry is faster than a stock 5.0; doesn't mean it's anything special.

They are completely different cars honestly. Unless you've experienced one or had your door blown off by one you won't understand and im not trying to sound like a dick.

here's a pic of my 87

I don't know if you saw the bolt ons I listed. But I think that the LS1 is obviously a better platform to start with...it took me headers, h pipe, catback, gears, underdrives, weight reduction, and slicks and skinnies to go 3 tenths SLOWER than what my STONE STOCK HEAVY ASS F-Body went, with comfortable leather interior, highway gears, and stock tires.

I wrote up a whole thing about that... got rid of it as it sounded way too argumentative and like I was trying to prove you wrong

The short of it was just that I can't see the fox vs camaro as a valid comparison between the two motors, nor necessary, as I think anyone on this site would say the LS1 is a better motor. More displacement, less weight, and much better designed from the factory... you'd have to be brand loyal to the point of total blindness to say elsewise.

The question here, though, is if it's "better enough" to justify the time/labor/money invovled in the motor swap, versus what that same time/labor/money could've got you with the stock motor. I say that there's a break-even point, and that point depends on what your access and ability to fabrication and parts.

What I wonder is how many people would be as okay with swapping a 2JZ-GTE into a foxbody as are suggesting the LS1?

If im not mistaken dart makes aluminum blocks in 302 and 351, only reason i wouldnt do a swap like this is because i dont want to hear "had to put a chevy motor in it to make it fast" from all the chevy guys

But IMO, Ls1 is a FAR superior motor...h/c/i and your sitting at 430hp...arent gonna get that out of a lil 302...

What about a 351? What happens when you take displacement out of the equation?
