Disturbing sound

I have a 86' GT and when i shift gears i hear this rattling sound.....it sounds like it is metal.. but when i looked i didnt see anything that might it might be

Check lifters, rods, remove your valve covers and check for shavings, drain your oil check for shavings...

From one thing I learned, is you discover and problem but can find it, well don't break it all down... nare it down :wink

But I must ask because you said when you "shift" gears so that could pertain tranny issues... I'm not a tranny guy but you could try adjusting the clutch, I had rattle and I replaced the tranny bar link and that fixed it but hey... i'm not a tranny guy
