Noise

I have a 91 LX and at idle everything sounds good. But when I give it gas it makes a tapping noise. My first thought was lifters. I had a friend of mine listen to the lifters and everything with his tools and he said the lifters all sound good. I was told by someone else it is my flywheel or clutch. BTW its a T5 with no 2nd gear. Bad synchro or something. Is this true that the flywheel could make a noise like this. The noise can be heard outside of the car but is much lounder inside the car. Thanks for any help.

Yeah he might have. I am a newbie anyways. I dont even know anything about Mustangs. Except the 4 cylinder non turbo ones. I have just crossed over from the ricer life. Not really I wasnt into the whole body kit shit, but I did own a import. I have to say this is much better than that unreliable Eclipse.

Don't worry, I was in your shoes at one time. I cleaned the shoes up though, didn't want you to get athelete's foot. :wink But I've crossed over from my ford banger Focus to something that doesen't feel like a tonka toy and had no choice but to learn. Even though i watched dad all my life and worked in shops, this was my first actual real V8. So I bought a used 302 that I got ripped off for when they said it was a 351, I said fuck it not worth throwing the engine upside there faces. Anyways I broke that engine down bare hands, no air tools no torque wrenchs NOTHING BARE hands... Of course regular hand tools.

But I learned that way So you're not far away. I'm yacking to much sorry

What college do you go to? I go to WKU, and am in the same situation you are in....Go out and meet the local mustang guys if you have a website or club near you....Bowling Green has an awesome mustang group and they help me out with alot of stuff. I live on campus two hours from home.

Northwest Missouri State, There really isnt much of anything here. This town is in the middle of nowhere in Missouir. But back home where I am at, there are tons of mustang groups and a shop 5 minutes away that specializes in Mustangs. So I will be hanging around there a lot from the looks of it.
