If your driveshaft bolts haven't been off in a while you might wanna try an impact gun of you have one. If you don't, all I've done is use a 13mm 12pt socket (on a 2006 mustang), hit the wrench 3 times and most of the times it will break the bolts loose. If you can get the bolt off even just a little bit, spray some penetraing oil on it (PB Blaster).

As far as a motor swap goes, try to sit down and write down all the parts you will need. In my v8 swap, I hit many brick walls which stalled my swap 3 weeks.

my pointers for removing the engine is a box of plastic bags, a sharpie, and a good camera are your friend.

bag every bolt, and mark what it is for. (also notes if you need to)

I can attest that is a GREAT idea. I did it and it made the swap so much easier. Mainly because I could go back and look at the pictures.

yep zip locks and a sharpie work wonders. on a fox the drive shaft should be a 12mm 12 point if im correct. and yeah they are tight just put some ass into it. got a torch? warm that flange up, might help

Very good advice there. I just swapped engines and by placing all the bolts in their own marked zip locked bags made the reassembly smooth.

My driveshaft bolts were a bitch to, I used a wrench and a cheater pipe and even that took some muscle.

Thanks for the advice. i got the engine out and back in with the help from my cousin. then the next day i tried to start it and it wouldnt turn over. i have no idea why. i thought it was the battery so i got a new one and that was not it., so i pulled the engine again this time it took me about 3 hours to do by myself. i took the tranny off and the engine turned over fine by hand. does anyone know if the turbine shaft can be turned by hand? im supposed to be gettin another tranny today hopefully. im hoping to have my car back together by the end of the day and running if everything goes well. i now have a tranny and an engine for sale if anyone wants both need rebuilt.

its it automatic? if so you must make sure the TQ converter did not get pulled out at all and if so it has got to be seated correctly or you may have just junked your pump for your trans.

umm yeah converter says in trans.. most likely you pinched the converter between the crankshaft and input/pump shaft on transmission... very possible you ruined the pump on the transmission. before you pull the engine your sapposed to turn the crankshaft over little by little takin the bolts out of the converter holding it to the flywheel from the little panel you can remove from your bell housing.

Ok my converter is fine, i found out the reason my engine wasnt turning over. I got a new tranny and got everything put in and took it out today it ran great. the only problem i am having is that i went from a num 54 trans to a number 53, not much different but the shift linkage is slightly different and causing problems. where it bolts to the shift cable but it is hard to shift through the gears. when it is not connected i can shift the tranny easily by hand and the shifter lever shifts smooth, but when the are connected it is hard to shift. and earlier when i took the car out it wouldnt go into park only reverse so i adjusteded is but it is still hard to shift.
