4.10 gears on the Freeway

I'm thinking about dumping 4.10's in my stang. How will that effect my driving on the freeway? Will i hear a crap load of whine and lose a crap load of gas?

My ride is a 5spd 302 GT

I have read alot of sites that say to use 3.73 for manual and 4.10 for aod.
I have 3.73 with aod and I know I would'nt want to step up to 4.10s the gas milage prob isnt that bad but I would say 3.73 is the perfect balance between top speed and accelaration.

daily driver or drag only?

I have 4.10s in mine and drive it to the girlfriends every friday wich is a 30 minute highway ride its not too bad you just dont wanna do like 90 the whole way, and your gas milage will drop a little, but in the city it gets real good milage.

With a 5 speed 4.10s aren't too bad but that all depends on what your definition of "too bad" is. Expect a 4-5 mile per gallon drop in fuel economy over a 3.55 or 3.73 gear. That is what myself and my brother in law both seen anyway.

I've never heard a set of gears whine that were installed properly. Strange and Richmond are probably the two best companies on the market. A small error in pinion depth or backlash can and will make noise.

The only car w/ the gears that I heard whine was my neighbors, but that was because he had spool in there

so you arent selling it anymore? I have personally never heard gears whine, i just heard about Strange gears whining...but like somebody said above, none of them should whine, it was just the install.

Well I just installed a new 16gal RCI Fuel cell with another Mr. Gasket fuel pump a few days ago so I have some gas to spare(lose) on gear change. I'd like to replace everything on the insides like the axles which I find no where expensive, and the differintial Oh crap that's costly but imma save for that.

I want to finish my engine soon. Thanks guys. I just wanna jump at the light every now and then because these 3.08's are laggy and when I do have enough gas. It's like the engine is spinning faster that what the car speed show be LOL
