Bondo or not to bondo HELP!

Hey guys, just picked up a car and im changing out the carpet. After ripping it out I realized on the floor around the drivers seat rail, the floor is rusting out and there is a 3X2 inch hole. I was thinking about bondo-ing the hell out of it to fill it in. Would tha work? Or do I have to go with another method?

Cut all of the rusted metal out and section in a piece of good metal. Weld it.

Cut ur rust out like Darrell said cause bondo won't stop it from rusting. Cut it out weld a new piece in and throw some rustoleum paint on to it the ur done for a long long time.

If ya can't weld it i'd go the fiberglass route (as mentioned above)...

.Cut out all the rust.
Grind clean (nice and shiny) the surrounding area, top and bottom (under car if it's exposed)
Clean with a good degreaser
Apply fiberglass matt and resin in layers, top and bottom (make each layer a little bigger than the last)

If you got the tools should only cost ya around $20/$30 for the glass/cloth

good luck

If you don't want to weld it, find someone who will. It'll be a lot better in the long run.

definitely take the time out to cut it out and then weld it with good metal. will last a lot longer than the cheap fiberglass method. the rust will go right through the fiberglass
