There was never a car made with Airbag and cruise with tilt steering. So your out of luck on keeping your airbag lol.

Thats why some say 89 is the best year because they still had tilt and no airbag but they also had mass air

so no 90 stangs with cruise had tilt? or where ther some that didnt have air bags?
did the 89 tilt columns have cruise?
and what does MAF have to do with the column? or was that just a side note?
at any rate, how hard is it to swap out the column to a tilt one, and what is the best "donor" column, the 89?

thanks for the tips.

90 to 93 tilt steering wasn't available at all. 87 to 89 had tilt steering.

the non tilts are shorter than the tilt, the only way to make one fit is to weld in an extension

Not worth it for a little bit of a tilt

The swap is simple no welding like stated above. Did it in my 92 and doing it again in my 90 here soon.

If the tilt is longer why would you have to weld something on when swapping from non tilt to tilt?

Thumbs down

I know I’m resurrecting an older thread here but I wanted to put my .02 in. I just completed the swap a couple of weeks ago and there is absolutely NO welding necessary. The tilt column is a couple inches longer but only at the tilt mechanism itself, everything else is the same and bolts right up to factory mounts. I have some info on my www.fquick.com/mykeyss page and hope to have some pictures added soon.

This was a very simple swap and would probably only take about two hours or so if you've messed around with pulling steering wheels and rewiring before, if your new to that it might take a little longer.

+1 Did the swap as well. Easy swap, no welding...everything fit correctly.
