FMU with 42lbs?

should i totally take out the fmu when i put my 42lbs injectors in or should i keep it hooked up just for extra fuel? I dont think it will work, because the disk in the fmu is only calibrated for 19lbs injectors. So should i just completely ditch the fmu? and just run the 42lbs injectors?...and if anyone needs some 24lbs i have a set for sale for $150 bucks for all eight they were installed in march of last year

i really dont think that will work....you need to have a tune when you add the 42s...

The 42lbers are there so you don't have to run an fmu and smaller injectors. As stated, you will need a tune.

An FMU is not technically calibrated for specific injectors, it "multiplies" fuel pressure with boost based on the disc that is in it and with some the slope is adjustable. Either way... Like stated, if your getting new injectors, get the correct ones for your HP and ditch the FMU. Where ever your going to get tuned, get their opinion on using the stock ECU with 42 or larger injectors specific to what kind of idle quality they can achieve. That is about the point where a standalone should be considered and I'm sure every different tuner has a different opinion.

he has a V3 strim. I think it put down close to 400 at the tire on 24lbers.

it was a combination of your 42lb injectors which give horrible idle quality coupled with your tuner not knowing how to properly resolve that which is soo common with 42's... My car ran like dog shit with them until my tuner took his time and dialed it in. Now with the tf1 cam and 42's it idles smoother then stock slightly.

oh and the obx abaco meter I have might have a big part in that as well

You can use an FMU with 42 lb injectors, and yes a FMU can be calibrated.

You want the 2:1 disc and ring in there.

But it is probably not required with the 42 lb injectors if you get a good tune.

Could yall enlighten me on what a FMU is? I know about carb's but I just recently learned about EFI! any more abreviations for some stuff on a EFI car?

BTW:B-on-B, toss that sh*t and convert to carb! Jk, my friend says you can run the FMU but you need to get it Flashed (<--???) and reprogramed for the 42#injectors.

FMU: Fuel management unit. Similar to a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. It raises fuel pressure, but instead of adding one psi of fuel pressure for 1 psi of boost, it might add 10 psi of fuel pressure for every psi of boost. Generally, they're used to add fuel on turbocharged or supercharged cars when the injectors are too small to supply enough fuel at full throttle and standard fuel pressure.

Yeah, maybe there was a mix up on three letter acronyms there, he might of thought the discussion was about ECU or the computer, not the FMU?

There are only 17,576 three letter acronyms so its easy to mix them up
