i left the original pump in the tank. i found a regulator from summit that was a heft sum, but it fit my needs perfectly.. i cut the old lines up front where they flex and flanged it out, then through a series of adapters and hose which i really just made up on the spot.. i had it all set up. i suggest highly getting this regulator.. making use of both your pressure and return lines.. and getting a fuel pressure guage to take up the second outlet from the regulator. itll help you when you need to set it all up anyways.
AEI-13204~ regulator ATM-4411~guage ATM-3227~ braided hose i was bound and determined not to use a mechanical fuel pump.. and i really didnt want to dig into the tank to run a new line or change out the pump.. so i started looking. at first, i just had a t block that broght the pressure at the carb down to around 6. but that just wasnt reliable enough. good luck

The only thing I have seen and done is a complete fuel system upgrade. All Aeromotive. Everything. From the pump to the rails to the fittings. It works flawlessly. The A1000 will power nearly anything. I advise against mixing and matching old with new; and brands. Ie; Earls and Aeroquip. BBK and Aeromotive, etc.
Have you ever done a fuel system? If so, you got a pretty good idea whats in store. If not.... Heheheh..... Have fun puttin the fittings on the line
