Mandatory emissions check every two years. I wouldn't be able to get the car tagged after my birthday this October.

Sure I will - when it goes in for emissions, I'll retard the timing back to 0 degrees, and bring it in nice and hot running on a couple of liters of Methyl Hydrate. The Aluminum heads will help keep the NOx readings down because they run a tad cooler than steel. There's ways to pass, you just have to know them.

If the engine combustion is efficient, and burns the fuel quickly and completely, then CO2 should be low. NOx is dependent on cylinder temperature. Burning the methyl hydrate lowers the combustion temperature to a point where it should fall within acceptable parameters. Taking the car for a 50km drive to thoroughly heat up the cats helps loads too.

If it flunks, I'll have to get my address changed the Northern area of the Province without emissions.

We'll see what happens I suppose!

Alcohol, will reduce the CO (rich mixture readings) only, it will not do a thing for the H C, or Nox readings, If your gonna use it don't get stupid with it alcohol will lean the system down, but doing so may also raise the Nox........

It lowered my NOx dramatically, because alcohol burns cooler than gas.

Holy crap! I just made a template to port match the stock lower to the TFS heads, and the amount of metal that has to come off is incredible! I forgot to buy a marker, so tomorrow I'll pick one up, trace what has to be ground off, then slowly begin removing some metal!!

Is there anything better than working on your own car and saying "I did this!"
(and guzzling beer while you're at it of course)

you'll want the intake about 1/16-1/32" smaller around than the head.

Thanks for the info. I started porting the #1 runner this afternoon with a small bit for my Dremel tool. After 1/2 an hour, I decided I need to buy a bigger bit!, or It would take ~20 hours to do the entire job!

Not too hard though - I'll just keep puttering along. I can't put the heads and cam on/in the car yet, because I need to save for the injectors and MAF and tune, so time is on my side.

buy the dremel brand "rotozip" rip off your'e gonna need at least a 1/4 inch bit. #1 and #5 are the really bad ports. start on the head sidr ports (rectangle) first that way as they are opened up you'll have room to get some good angles, and go deeper. I did my upper and lower, it took wayyyy to long. and I didden't get the results I expected. Honestly, I would just buy a new intake. The 05 up mustangs have 24#s the're the bosch 3 type, they fit though, and they are all over ebay from people putting S.C.s on their cars.
